Calstock is a large village situated within the tidal reaches of the river Tamar, 10 miles north of Plymouth. The Tamar estuary is macro-tidal, with a typical tidal range of 5m and an area of 35km2. It includes large intertidal areas and receives an average annual river flow of 22m3/s.
